Formerly a 628-acre plantation, Poplar Grove produced peanuts, peas, corn, and beans and held approximately 64 slaves. Located 7 miles northeast of Wilmington, a rustic feel pervades the plantation buildings and grounds. The renovated 1850 Greek Revival plantation house now serves as a museum and cultural arts center with numerous exhibits and blacksmith, basket making and weaving demonstrations.
